Colour, shapes, imagination and freedom. These four elements guide Bente Hammer in working with her textiles which she prints on large frames in her workshop in Nyker. She primarily aims for beauty and harmony through the various fabrics and colours. Her unerring style in terms of colour scheme and design creates a combination of elegance, lightness and femininity that is transformed into classic clothing art in her sewing room above the workshop, yet is also manifested as metre-long wall hangings or fine draperies as separate works of craft art. Bente Hammer’s style is modern and traditional at the same time and derives inspiration from people and nature, both at home on Bornholm and in exotic places around the world.
